COVID-19 has become an unprecedented and unpredictable global crisis. On 21st March 2020, Uganda reported its first COVID-19 case and this triggered its first lockdown. According to Daily Monitor on June 18, 2021, President Museveni ordered a 42 day lockdown to reduce the rising cases of COVID-19 as the country experienced the second wave of the pandemic1.

POLICY AND STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK TO EASE THE IMPACTS OF POST-COVID19 THROUGH CLIMATE ACTION BASED ENTERPRISES

For a year now, the COVID-19 pandemic has been at the centre of news across the globe and Africa. In Africa where estimates put the effects of the pandemic to affect the economy of Africa to around a fall of 1.4% of its GDP,with smaller economies facing contraction of up to 7.8%.

For over half-a-year now, the COVID-19 emergency have been at the centre of news across the globe and Africa. Specifically, in Africa where I am peening these thoughts, many lives and livelihoods have suffered a huge toll.

As the COVID-19 now enters its 3rd month in Africa, what is becoming clearer is that beyond a health crisis, an economic catastrophe is looming for Africa and the globe.

THE COVID 19 AND INFORMAL SECTOR : STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK & METHODOLOGY FOR INTERVENTION IN AFRICA THROUGH CLIMATE LENS

Since the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Africa in late February, the impact on the economy continues to unfold. As at March 2020, a 1.4% decline in GDP equivalent to $29 billion has been reported.
